Reading through fellow team members' blogs a few minutes ago, I noted that Bruce Nkgodi on his own initiative had secured a twelve-month internship with a government parastatal. In his post he emphasised the egde that being in the WOW programme had given him, in terms of skills acquired during the training. It prepared him for interviews and marketing himself successfully to prospective employers.
This again underscores for me, the importance of this kind of programme (WOW) to emerging postgraduate students going into the work place. It also highlights the tremendous effort that is continually being put into making this programme a successful and beneficial tool, for the humanities postgraduate student seeking employment in the 'real' world. It really prepares you realistically for what you will face out there as a prospective employee.
I am quite keen to see how the programme will have evolved in the next one or two years. As each group moves from training to internships, what ever lessons have been learned in that year, ensures that improvements are made during the next training and internship process.

What can I say.... WOW was a WOW experience for me, and I'm sure for others!
cool that you posted the pic so everyone can see where we were... have you investigated these energy efficient light bulbs?
Hi Ije,
The Wow has empowed me. I have understood that I don't have to rely on Lesley only anymore. What Bruce did it's what I and hope those who are left are doing. We can fly by our own but they help is more then welcome. Even if I am one of the two without intership yet, My determination still at its pick. My bain generate more and more idea. I know that I will get my ideal position when time comes. hat I need is a ground to start on.
God bless
Adam
Adam, your big break is on its way (prophetic). This may sound strangely strange, but please enjoy the time you still have on your hands because it won’t last. Some employer will own it and it will all be a distant memory. Keep your chin up; it is only a matter of time before your ship docks…
About the WoW programme, Bruce’s story is proof that it works! [sounds like an Ad for a detergent]. It was like scales fell off my eyes, it changed my perceptions. It opened my mind to possibilities… a mini-revolution of sorts, I dare-say! I have no doubt that we are all the better for it, thanks to Lesley and Jean and their power (pardon the pun) team!
Thank you Susan M. and Adam for your comments. Yes Adam, I think it is important to spread your net wide. Lesley and Jean are doing their best but one cannot pin all their hopes on them and expect that they must deliver, while you sit with folded arms. Good things come to those who have the perseverance as well as the eye for opportunity. Good luck!! Definitely, participating in the WOW training ia an added advantage.
Susan A., I didn't know that the phillips pix was so awful. It does show where we were though. No I haven't tried the energy saving bulbs, have you?
