The much anticipated 2010 is finally here. For me the beginning of the new year was spent in quiet reflection and meditation.
So, here we are with high hopes for the fruits hosting the FIFA World Cup will yield both economically and socially. I hope we will not be disappointed on so many levels.
For the arts and culture sector there is a frenzy of 'cultural' experiences planned around 2010. The tourism and hospitality industry stands to reap the benefits of the large numbers of sports fans that will be coming through from the West and from within the African continent.
What ever our expectations, whether fulfilled or unfulfilled, 2010 promises to be a year like no other in South Africa.
I for one look forward to the personal and collective outcomes of this key year for the African continent as a whole.
